Overall, the region is home to over half the province's population, and the full range of economic and employment opportunities from business services, to retail and wholesale trade, manufacturing, contraction, tourism, and natural resources including agriculture, energy, forestry, fishing, and mining.

Over 1.2 million people are employed in almost 100,000 businesses.

The ten points of service by FNES result in a relatively uneven distribution of services, due to the wide range in service area populations. Grouping the ten First Nations into four· points of service results in a more equitable distribution of population by service area. The figure above presents a graphic display of the four points of service.
